*VI.I.33: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Emendations and Errata: Emendations for a (Missing) Duplicate Copy of the Second Typescript of Book III/Finnegans Wake III.1–3 (1926):


Material Description and Collation

The manuscript is a loose sheet of rolled Maison Billet stationery, torn on the left edge, with a circular watermark of an interwoven "M" and "C" and below it: "METROPOLITAIN NOTE PAPER". This is the same kind of paper as MS VI.I.32. Joyce used the sheet horizontally and the emendations begin on the verso and continue on the recto. The emendations are in Joyce’s hand in black ink.

The manuscript measures 10.6 x 13.7 cm.

Dating

Joyce probably wrote this manuscript in early June 1926.


Other Markings

Joyce wrote "p.t.o" [please turn over] in the lower margin of the verso.


Notes

Joyce also made these emendations on the extant pages of a copy of the typescript (BL MSS 47483, fs. 63, 163, 165, and 181 and 47484a, fs. 125, 126, 128, and 130; JJA 57.261, 263, 265, and 281 and 58.247, 248, 250, and 252); no copy of the second typescript of III.4 is known to be extant. Joyce had noted some of the emendations here on Buffalo Finnegans Wake notebook MS VI.B.12.019. Additionally, several other emendations on this manuscript appear in MS VI.B.12.001–004, crossed out with blue crayon.
