Partial Duplicate Typescript of the "Wandering Rocks" (10) Episode for The Little Review (1919)
Material Description and Collation
The manuscript consists of 5 loose sheets of paper, which Spielberg described as "thin" typing paper, with corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink on all of the pages, which Joyce also wrote on MS V.B.8.a.i. All of the pages are single-spaced typewritten black ink bottom (carbon) copies and all the versos are blank. The sheets were all cleaned, de-acidified and encapsulated in May 1988.
Measurements
The sheets measure approximately 27.1 x 21.5 cm.
Pagination
The sheets are paginated "6"–"10" in the lower right margin in lead pencil (these page numbers are all circled, except p. "8") and also paginated "140"–"144" in the lower right margin in black ink.

The manuscript is a partial duplicate bottom copy of what were at least 2 but presumably 3 complete typescripts (a top copy and 2 bottom copies) of the "Wandering Rocks" episode, of which another partial copy survives (Buffalo MS V.B.8.a.i). The typescript was prepared from the Rosenbach (faircopy) manuscript version of the episode and contains only (most of) the corrections and revisions Joyce made for the publication of Ulysses in The Little Review , though this is not the printers’ typescript. Dating
The typescript was prepared in late February 1919 in Zurich and further revised by Joyce in Paris by August 1921 in black ink for the printing of Ulysses .
Other Markings
During conservation, therefore after the manuscript’s publication in the JJA , the sheets were marked "V B 8 b, 1"–"V B 8 b, 5" in the lower right corners in pencil.
