V.B.13.d
Holograph Scribal Transcriptions of the Latter Half of the “Circe” Episode for Ulysses (1921)
General Material Description, Collation and Contents
The manuscript consists of 119 sheets of paper of various kinds and sizes, though MSS V.B.13.d.1, 13.d.2, 13.d.4, 13.d.7, 13.d.8, and 13.d.11 are similar. Writing appears on the rectos only, except for pp. [110]–[116], [118] and [119]. The manuscript is a holograph transcription of the latter half of the Rosenbach (faicopy) manuscript of the “Circe” episode ( Ulysses 490.16– 565.20 / 15.2611–4967) in the hands of 2 amanuenses, Raymonde Linossier (MS V.B.13.d.1) and Cyprian Beach (MSS V.B.13.d.2–11) in blue and black inks and lead pencil, with some corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink.

Notes
Although Spielberg differentiated the sections of this manuscript based on changes in paper kinds and sizes, they constitute a single integral draft. There are 3 manuscript draft levels prior to the Rosenbach (faircopy) manuscript version: Buffalo MS V.A.19 and NLI MSS 36,639/12 and 35,598.
