Material Description and Collation
The manuscript is an octavo sheet of pulp paper. It was printed only on one side and consists of 8 pages of printed text. The pages contain corrections and revisions in Joyce’s hand in black ink. The manuscript was cleaned, de-acidified, and encapsulated in May 1988 and backing tape was placed along the center folds.
Measurements
The manuscript measures 65.0 x 50.0 cm.
Pagination
Each page is numbered "1"–"8", respectively, in the center of the margins above the text block, in lead pencil, possibly by the printer. Page "1" is also marked "1 à 8 – A".
Contents
The manuscript is part of one of two copies of what the JJA refers to as the "third setting" of galley proofs for transition 13 (Summer 1928); this manuscript is continued on a portion of this copy of this setting of the galley proofs at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and then continued on BL MS 47483, f. 203 (JJA 57.397). Another extant copy of this setting of the galley proofs that include these pages was reproduced in black and white photo-facsimile on JJA 57.388–391. This copy of the galley proof was not returned to the printer, so Joyce’s corrections and revisions on this manuscript (and on the remaining sheets of this copy) were transcribed by Thomas MacGreevy on a copy of the "fourth setting" of galley proofs for transition 13 (BL 47483, fs. 212–219 and Buffalo MS VI.G.7). See transition 13, 05.01–17.18 as well as FW 429.01–449.26.

Dating
The manuscript is undated but the other copy of this setting of proofs was date stamped "16 May 1928" by the printer; Joyce also revised both copies of this setting of proof in May 1928.
Other Markings
There are red crayon markings written vertically along the left margin of p. [1], probably by the printer. The notation "2 of 6" was written in the lower right corner of the manuscript in lead pencil; the number "4" was written in heavier lead pencil in the top right margin of p. "7" (these marking were probably made during the preservation process as identifying numbers). There are faint printers’ stamps (or impressions of stamps) in the top margin of p. "1" that read "16 MAI 28".
