IX.A.8: Miscellaneous Manuscripts: Loose Sheets: Draft of a Letter by Joyce in Danish (1936)
The manuscript is a loose sheet of unruled grey paper, in Joyce’s hand in lead pencil on both sides of the sheet.
The manuscript measures 28.0 x 18.0 cm.
The manuscript is a draft of a letter in Danish by Joyce, with no salutation or signature. According to Spielberg, it is about Joyce’s "recent visit to Denmark, the possibility of a future visit, the question of a Danish translation of Ulysses, and the unwelcome and unauthorized interview of Joyce by a reporter from the Berlingske Tidende (see MS IX.A.7)" (177).
Joyce presumably prepared this draft in September 1936.
There are markings in orange crayon on the recto.
This manuscript has not been reproduced.
The sheet was folded once horizontally and there is a small perforation in the upper right corner.
