*VI.J.1 [Also see VI.B.9]: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Miscellaneous Manuscripts: List of Finnegans Wake Sigla (Probably 1925–1926)
The manuscript consists of a loose sheet of graph paper that was torn from a notebook, with a perforation on the bottom edge. The list is in Joyce’s hand in black ink; the verso is blank. The manuscript was torn from the notebook now catalogued as Finnegans Wake notebook MS VI.B.9 and is the same kind of paper as MSS VI.I.13, I.16, and VI.J.8.
The sheets measure approximately 10.5 x 16.6 cm.
The manuscript is a unique listing of the Finnegans Wake sigla, which Joyce presumably prepared specifically for Sylvia Beach.
Joyce probably prepared this list in 1925–1926.
This manuscript has not been reproduced. For some of the other versions of Joyce’s list of sigla, see LI 213 and 242.
