VIII.A.6.c: Other Notebooks: Miscellaneous Zurich Notes: Further Business Letter (1916)
The manuscript is a half sheet of faintly ruled tan stationery, which is identical to MSS VIII.A.6.a and 6.b, the right edges of which is ragged, with writing on the recto only. The manuscript is not in Joyce’s hand.
The manuscript measures 26.8 x 10.5 cm.
The manuscript consists of a copy of an illegibly signed letter to Mr. N. Pipinellis, in Patras, Greece, "about 20 tons of prunes" (Owen, p. [99]). Joyce transcribed the vocabulary from this letter on MS VIII.A.4, pp. [16], [17] and [28] and copied the entire letter on its p. [18].
The letter is dated 30 October 1916.
This manuscript has been reproduced in black and white photo-facsimile on JJA 3.292.
The sheet was folded in half horizontally. A vertical line was drawn in what is now the right margin of the recto in lead pencil. There is fragmentary writing in the ragged right margin, apparently part of the sheet from which this piece was torn; the other half is not known to survive.
