The manuscript consists of a loose sheet of unlined, off-white typing paper. It is a double-spaced typewritten top (original) black ink copy, with corrections and emendations, in the hand of an unidentified amanuensis, and an addition in Joyce’s hand, all in black ink; the verso is blank.
The manuscript measures 26.9 x 20.6 cm.
The manuscript is an earlier (previously undocumented extradraft version) of an insertion for the second proofs for transition 15 (February 1929). See transition 15, 15, 213.27–35 as well as FW 499.04–12. The manuscript, with revisions, was retyped in two copies: BL MS 47484b, f. 313 and Buffalo MS VI.F.6.
III.3§3A.9|-.
The manuscript was probably typed in late January 1929.
The typescript is tagged with a large "A" in the center of the upper margin in black ink, presumably in Joyce’s hand.
This copy of the typescript has not been reproduced.
