Third Part of the Holograph Scribal Transcription of the "Circe" Episode


Material Description and Collation

The manuscript consists of 8 sheets of linen paper stationary, watermarked Marcus Ward’s, writing appears on the rectos only and the versos are blank, in the hand of an amanuensis, Cyprian Beach in black ink, with corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand in black ink on pp. [1], [2], [3] and [8].


Measurements

The sheets measure approximately 25.8 x 16.3 cm.


Pagination

The sheets were paginated "10)"–"17)" in the lower left margin in lead pencil.


Contents

The manuscript is a partial holograph transcription of a lost copy text (the corresponding pages of the Rosenbach manuscript are missing) that is continued from MS V.B.13.d.2 and is continued on MS V.B.13.d.4. This transcription was used as the copy text for the typescripts of this section of the "Circe" episode (Buffalo MSS V.B.13.e–h). The text on the pages is as follows:

Notes

The upper right corners of the sheets are discolored, there are traces of rust on pp. [1] and [3] and a stain in lower left corner on p. [1].
