Second Part of a Further Partial Duplicate Copy of the Typescript (with First Overlay) of the "Circe" (15) Episode for Ulysse s (1921)
Material Description and Collation
The manuscript consists of 3 sheets of typing paper, watermarked "LIVERPOOL BOND". All of the pages are double-spaced typewritten black ink bottom (carbon) copies; all the versos are blank. There are corrections and additions in Joyce’s hand on all the pages in black ink.
Measurements
The sheets measure approximately 27.0 x 20.8 cm.
Pagination
The sheets were paginated "91)"–"93)" in the lower left margin in pencil.
Contents
The manuscript is a typescript of the "Circe" episode, comprised of only bottom copies of what were at least 3 complete typescripts (a top copy, none of which survive, and 2 bottom copies), of which 2 partial, other copies survive (Buffalo MSS V.B.13.e, and 13.h). This typescript was prepared from the scribal version of the Rosenbach manuscript (faircopy) version of the episode (MS V.B.13.d.1). The typescript was revised by Joyce, who also made most of the emendations on the corresponding pages of the other copies of the typescript. It is continued from MS V.B.13.g.1 and is continued on MS V.B.13.g.3. The text on the pages is as follows:
