The manuscript is a loose sheet of "Clinique OphTalmique |TraitEment des Maladies des Yeux | 39 RUE DU CHERCHE-MIDI [Paris]" stationery: the emendation is on the verso in Joyce’s hand in lead pencil.

The manuscript measures 13.1 x 21.0 cm.

The manuscript is an extradraft sheet that contains an earlier revised draft version of an emendation that Joyce further revised and then wrote on the marked pages of Le Navire d’argent (Yale 6.1, f. 65) for the printer of transition 8. See transition 8, 23.32–33 as well as FW 203.11–12.
