*VI.I.5 [VI.H.3]: "Work in Progress"/Finnegans Wake Emendations and Errata: Scribal Copy of Emendations For the Galley Proofs of Finnegans Wake I.3 (probably 1936):
The manuscript is a loose sheet of unlined paper. The emendation is on the recto in Beach’s hand in lead pencil.
The manuscript measures 21.0 x 27.0 cm.
The manuscript is an extradraft sheet that contains Beach’s instructions for the printers to emend a marked copy of transition 3 of the galley proofs of Finnegans Wake. See transition 3, 50.02, 50.04 as well as FW 074.13, 074.15–16.
I.3§3.8+.
Beach prepared this emendation in 1936.
The manuscript is headed "p. 50" in lead pencil, which refers to transition 3, 50 (BL 47475, fs. 30v) that was repaginated, in ink, as p. "58" when the Book I transition pages were all numbered sequentially for revision for the printers of Finnegans Wake.
The manuscript has been reproduced in black and white photo-facsimile on JJA 45.300.
Neither emendation was incorporated in the text as indicated on this manuscript. A further revised version of second addition was noted, in a variant form by an amanuensis, on the marked pages of transition 3 (BL 47475, f. 31v; JJA 45.299; see FW 074.16–17) and was then retyped (BL 47475, fs. 120v and 208; JJA 45.334 and 335); the other addition does not appear in any subsequent draft or printing of the text.
